As the winner of the European Union’s “Future & Emerging Technology Flagship” scheme, Markram’s Human Brain Project will receive 1 billion Euros in funding.
We had the chance to attend Markram’s visually-spectacular plenary talk “Simulation Based Brain Research: The Next Evolution In Neuroscience” at the FENS Forum of Neuroscience last July (2012), which you can see some footage of here.
As compelling as the project may superficially sound, it sounds conceptually (and as a consequence methodologically) flawed.
