NUIM Neuro Week Roundup

5 Apr

Professor Ian Robertson of the NEIL Institute (Trinity College Dublin) paid NUI Maynooth a visit Wednesday evening to deliver a guest lecture to our undergraduate and postgraduate Psychology students.

Following the recent publication of his book entitled “The Winner Effect: How Power Affects Your Brain”, the Psych Soc here at NUIM invited Prof. Robertson to speak on the neuroscience behind power and success.

Over a thought-provoking and entertaining hour, Prof. Robertson discussed how power affects the brain from the molecular and cellular levels up to the influence of behavioural and socio-environmental factors.

Also in NUIM Neuro Lab news, a further paper by recently-submitted lab student Caroline Rawdon and lab alumni Jen Murphy has been accepted for publication in BMC Psychiatry. We look forward to seeing it in print!

That’s all from NUIM Neuro Lab this week…
